This week in International LiveWire: Mount Everest ER | Christmas countdown | U.S. presidential suites

MCT's Adventure package goes inside Mount Everest's ER

For more than 85 years, summiting Mount Everest has been and remains one of the world's ultimate challenges. Known in Tibet as the Mother Goddess of the Universe, the mountain has a reputation for attracting swashbuckling adventurers, rogue personalities and nomadic tribes of climbers. Dr. Luanne Freer has become an integral part of Mount Everest's epic journey. She is founder of Everest Base Camp Medical Clinic (EBC Clinic), the highest-altitude emergency room in the world.

Read Freer's story in MCT's Adventure package, a weekly set of stories and visuals that covers a wide range of outdoor recreation topics, as well as the latest gear and popular destinations.
